First, EXFOLIATE!  Use a moisturizing exfoliator to give you a base layer of moisture.  I like Younique's Lip Exfoliator.  A convenient, portable stick of sugar and shea butter, simple to use that leaves great results.

Second, apply your lipstick.  Work with thin layers to build the depth of color you want.  Sizzling Splash Liquid Lipstick by Younique is my fave!

Let the lipstick dry, be patient!

Last, dab a small amount of makeup primer onto your lips.  Younique's Glorious Primer works very well for this.

Now let the primer dry!

DONE!  You now have beautifully matte lips that don't feel as dry as the Sahara Desert after a drought.  Enjoy!!

Natural Beauty School

The WILD Side of Natural Beauty

Sometimes we need to step out of our comfort zone, to be bold and daring!

For one that may be testing that new redder than red lipstick out in public.

For another it may be wearing that amazing new mascara out and being mistaken for wearing falsies.

It might be the sparkly new eye shadow when you haven't worn eye shadow since the blue days of the 80's...

Whatever that new thing is, for some it's a major hurdle.  Maybe that woman has been toying with the red lipstick for weeks but it's such a change for her that she's nervous.  She wants to do something for her, but doesn't want to be judged.

Is the secret to all makeup that it should look like you're not wearing any?  Who remembers that statement??

Sometimes that's not it at all!!  Sometimes it's fun to be different and daring, it gives us a sense of adventure and fun!  So the next time you see a friend trying something new and daring with makeup, compliment her (unless it's clearly a poor choice...)!  Hey, that lipstick is amazing on you!  Love your new eye shadow!  Something quick and sincere to boost their confidence - because, after all, Natural Beauty is all about bringing out your confidence!!

Detox?

It has reached the time of year that I begin to think about detoxing from my holiday eating bad habits.  Not only do I FEEL better after a week or so of a detox, but I notice I LOOK better too!  Natural beauty at its best, detoxed!!

I've successfully done a detox once a year for 7 years, but then the last 2 years my body really struggles (muscle cramping, nerve pain) so I'm trying something new and with more nutritional value this year.

It's bubbly! What Does Natural Beauty Mean to You?

We all have some notion of what we think "natural beauty" means.  Is it a woman who wakes, splashes water on her face and looks remarkable?  Is it a woman who does the same, looks less than remarkable, but is so confident that it doesn't matter?  Is it a woman who uses makeup products to enhance her favorite features?  Yes, yes, and yes!  To me, "natural beauty" means whatever it takes to make that woman step forward with her utmost confidence.  A confident woman is a beautiful woman, however she gets there!

For me, "natural beauty" is using naturally-based makeup products to bring out my inner confidence.  I love knowing that the makeup products I use are less toxic, cruelty-free, and in many cases vegan-friendly.  In a world full of chemicals, reducing those that I eat, those that I use to clean, and those that I put directly onto my face makes me feel like an accomplished and confident mom, wife, and woman!
